At this time they will meet with the California sena tors and representatives on Capitol Hill. Delegates also are invited on this evening to a reception for Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly of Alton, II. who will be nomi nated from the floor for the office of president by Mrs. Ann Bowler, California Na tional Republican Committee woman. Mrs. Gladys O’Don nell ,of Long Beach is the choice of the nominating com mittee for this office, and this will be the only contest which is anticipated, although nomi nations for any of the offices may be made from the con vention floor. II * OFFICIAL recognition of the Simi branch of the Ameri can Association of University, Women will be given by Mrs. Edward Moreas, second vice president of the California di vision of AAUW, at a luncheon meeting Saturday at noon in the home of Mrs. Donald Binns, 408 Laguna Terrace, Simi. Mrs. Moreas also will install new officers of the Simi branch. To be installed art Mmes. Fred Brown, pres ident; Richard Lolley, first vice president; Al Gates, sec ond vice president; William Miller, secretary; Viola Brooks, corresponding secre tary; Carl Finch, treasurer; Carl Lusk, historian, and George Najemnik, parliamen tarian WINNERS — Simi Valley can be proud this week of some of its youngsters who are on their way to becoming the scientists of tomorrow. David Underwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Thomas of Simi, and a ninth grade stu dent at Sinaloa Junior High School in Simi, won a sweep- stakes award for his entry in’ the third annual ‘Ventura Country Science Pair. He won the award in the biological division for his pro ject, “A Study of Relationship, Between Eye Color and Eye Problems.” He also won the Naval Civil Engineering Labo ratory's special award for ninth graders. Other Simi Valley winners who placed first, second and ‘third were Jeffery Wiliams, Ron Poulson, Frank 0. Blake, Melissa Hammarlee, Gwenyth Lerch, Nancy Underwood, Charles Kimberling, Steve L. Swenson, Dennis Ney and William Anderson. oe “DADDY'S LITTLE Girl! Now and Forever” was the theme of the Daddy-Daughter, Dinner held in the multipur pose room of the Simi Valley High School. The event was sponsored by the Girls Lea gue, Barbara Cichon, presi dent. The dinner featured sur prise entertainment and a menu consisting of spaghetti, tossed salad, green beans, garlic bread and strawberry shortcake. Nita Blazer was general chairma. Special chairmen h were Shirley Sullivan, refresh ments; Elaine Fortmeyer, de corations, and’ Terri Gibson, entertainment. This dinner is one of the, many projects Sponsored by]] the Girls League during the school year. Others are the] Girls League Convention, Can dy Appie Sale, Hush Day, and the Girls League Fashion Show. BERMUDA DAY will be combined with Maynard Day’ this year at the Simi Valley High School. The event is sponsored by the student sen ate and will be held May 12. All students will be allowed to wear Bermudas. Assembly held at the Simi Valley High School. Most valuable “C” basket ball player award went to Dave Berg. Ron Clow re ceived the most valuable “B” basketball player award and Richard Heising received the junior varsity most valuable award. Coach John Dobbet handed out awards for the varsity. Barry Hickenbottom was the star performer and received the most valuable player tro phy to add to his collection. Larry Kalvelage was credited with most consecutive ‘reel throws. Wrestling awards went tolf Randy Alverez, most valu able, and the junior varsity trophy to Larry Welsh. oes TRACK TEAM — Simi Val ley High School boasts an ex cellent track team this year. Terri Brown runs the 100 and 2% yard dashes and relay events and has won every event she has entered. Leslie Purdhent is the team’s best hurdler and also competes in the 50 yard dash and the hur des.
