Union Township Institute.The teachers of Union township assembled in the Nappanee School-building April 29th, 1882, and selected D. M. Best president, and J. M. Woomer secretary. Teacher’s present, 1). M. Best, J. M. Woomer, Miss Emma Wyland, Miss Ella Woomer, Miss Fetters, Mrs. Flora Smith, Miss Mary Stauffer, J. L. Ernest, E. A Dausmau, W. E. Berlin and Noah Culp. The subject of Arithmetic, Denominate Numbers, was conducted by D. M. Best; Grammer, Rela-tive Pronoun, by W. E. Berlin: History, Causes of the Civil War, by Miss Mary Stauffer; Physiology, Digestion, by E. A, Dausman; Reading, Bare-foot Boy, by J. L. Ernest. The exercises were quite interesting.The following program was presented for next Institute:Arithmetic—Bank Discount.Geography—South America.Spelling.Grammar—Analysis of sentences, pages 122—8.History—Results of Civil War.Physiology—Respiration.The Institute then adjourned to meet again, May 20, 1882.D.
