WLB Fixes|(Minimum Pay j At 50 Cents ,| ■ iThe regional war labor board Sat- * urday was authorized to approve 1 wage increases to establish a mini- | ’ mum hourly rate of.50 cents.i The current basic wage was 40 ’ i cents an hour.J Authorization to the regional ? ; board was received from the na* i ! tional WLB to eliminate sub- s standards of living, subject to 11m- l itation imposed by President Roose- s velt’s hold-the-lme order of Apr. 8. i The board said that the setting of a virtual floor under wages of « 50 cents an hour does not give : ; blanker authority to employers to 1 raise all lower wages to 50 cents an 1 hour without WLB approval.1 Approval by the WLB requires the employer's declaration that he will not use the higher wage as a ; basis for seeking higher price ceii- 1 . mgs for his goods, the board said. ; j Approval must be denied if the in-l crease might seriously disrupt the 'wages in the industry or area.1 Granting of an order correctingsubstandard pay will preclude any | future adjustments by the WLB| of alleged inequalities within the plant caused by the pay increase,the board said. !1 i
