For the first time in his 14 years of court battles on a wide variety of criminal charges, Achille “Butch” Lenci Friday morning started serving a jail sentence. He was brought to the Yolo county jail to serve two months, in addition to paying a 51000 fine, as result of the sentence imposed on him late Thursday by Federal Judge Harold Louderback in Sac ramento after Lenci pleaded guil ty to operating a liquor rectifying plant in violation of the internal revenue laws. Lenci admitted that he was a bootlegger during prohibition days, and he has a long list of arrests and convictions on burg lary, narcotics and prohibition charges. He was the center of a political upheaval during the Rolph administration when the governor pardoned him on a bur glary charge. Although many times arrested and convicted, Lenei never before has been sentenced to serve a jail sentence. Lenei escaped heavier penalty when his attorney, Wallace Shep herd, told the court that Lenei has purchased an interest in a San Francisco restaurant and is going straight
