Memorial Service Held By Delegates Last Night for Miss Edla Anderson Ilinois pastors and laymen of the Swedish Evangelical Mission church, meeting in this city yesterday and today for the annual conference of the Illinois Missionary cantaresen of the Swedish Evangelical Coven ant of America held a memorial service last evening in memory of Miss Edna Anderson, daughter of mr. and Mrs. M. P. Anderson, whose death occurred in China three years ago yesterday. Miss Anderson was engaged in missionary work at the time of her death, “ Rev. A. G. Eklund, pastor of the DeKalb church, presided at the open ing session of the conference last night. Following his address of wel come, a response was given by the conference chairman, Hon. August Almquist of Chicago. The church choir, under the direction of Henry Noren, also sang two selections. Last evening's sermon was by Rev. A. M. Bowman of Chicago, who spoke on the topic “Things That Waver and, _ Things Which Waver Not. 100 Delegates Here Nearly 100 pastors and laymen are here for the conference, the delegates representing 67 churches in Illinois. This morning's session was opened by a devotional service, led by Rev. Arvid Carlson of ‘Tiskilwa. Rev. Alm- Quist opened the business sessions, at which time reports covering the year's work were read. ‘The report showed that during the year the conference gave financial aid to several smaller churches in Peoria, Tiskliwa, Heirit, Wis, Port age, Ark, and Oakdale. Rev. C. W. Johnson, home missionary, gave a report showing the results of his work during the year. He visited a number of communities not served by a permanent pastor, his report showed. Rev. David Johnson, state * evangelist, reported that during the +s year he conducted 313 services of an evangelistic nature. ‘The state church conference re ceived $5,790.40 during the year, the _ treasurer's report showed, of which (Turn to Page 10 Please.)
