Bunfield. who was killed at Vitny Ridge on April 9th, was held in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 4.30 p.m.Members of the Masonic Order assembled at the Masonic Temple in regulia and marched from there via Baker Street and Armstrong Avenue to tlio Presbyterian Church headed by Lite Knight Templars as an escort. A large number of the many friends of Lieut Banfleld had already assembled to do honor to his memory.Tlte service was conducted by the Pastor, Rev. mills Wright, assisted by tlte Rev. Thos. Key worth and the Rev. W. H. Bridge and was most impressive.The sermon was preached by the Rev. W. H. Bridge, Rector of Christ Church. He said:We have met to do honor to the memory of a fallen brother—one of a great host, one who held a place in our hearts and affections. We cannot but think of him first as a man, a son, a citizen, somebody’s boy—and for the sake of these things, to uphold the honor of these tilings, a soldier. He fell in the great battle of Vitny Ridge, fighting not for riches or power but for that which all men at their best hold dear, and dearer than life itself, Honor.The speaker proceeded to show that Honor was the* keyword of the Allies’ cause and the foundation of society itself. He snid the best memorial we could offer to one who died in such n fight was to incorporalo the* jr!n-ciple for which he died into all our dealings. He will not come back; but thousands of others will.
