Private letters to his friends spi inform them that ho had gono out to doj a mining location near Downievillc, ‘n and standing upon a cliff accidentally fell at first some 2.5 feet on his head 1 and shoulders upon loose fragments of rock-—from thence rolling and falling j- ’ another descent of some 80 feet more to the foot of the precipice, where he jn was taken up senseless, shockingly to bruised and lacerated.
