New owners, new name, new theme, but same gourmet coffee downtown By JENNIFER GRATHWOL grathwol@ SANDUSKY There will soon be a new brew downtown Stillwaters Cafe, 140 Columbus Ave., will serve its last sandwich and fromh its last latte Saturday. On Monday morning, the cafe will open as Mr. Smith's Coffee House, owned and operated by Trent and Sara Beard. Father-son duo Tom and Josh Schwanger opened the Still waters downtown cafe and eatery more than four years ago. “Stillwaters was the haunt of many area residents who enjoyed coffee and some good stories,’ Sandusky city com missioner Dave Waddington said. “I drew up my campaign plans (there) on a napkin ... in my first commission run.” Commissioners Waddington and Dan Kaman hosted informal Saturday morning meetings at the cafe every week to enjoy a chat over coffee with area residents. ll See COFFEE, Page AQ ITH BRUNEF Register Jeff Wittmer relaxes at Stillwaters Coffee Cafe in Sandusky Stillwaters will change owners and names on Monday to become Mr. Smith's Coffee House.
