brary.■ LOCAL AUTHOR EMERSON “TAD” BAKER will speak at the May 13 Kittery Historical and Naval Society meeting about his latest book “The Devil of Great Island.” The book chronicles how fear and superstition overtook one small Seacoast town 10 years before the famous Salem with trials of the 1690’s and spawned copycat incidents elsewhere in New England. The society meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Lions’ Club Building on State Road in Kittery, Maine, starting at 7 p.m. The public is always welcome and invited to attend and participate.
