NEWS OF YOUTH ACTIVITIES By BESS DAVIDSON ear when the weather is warmer, the trees are greener, the call of the great outdoors is louder, and we still have a month of school. It really isn’t too bad if you can take a dip in the pool in Phy. Ed. and manage to get sent out of class (to the aircondition ed study hall) once in a while. ‘As a matter of fact it sounds pretty soft! This being my last opportunity to urge you on this subject of the Senior play, which will be this Friday, I will make the most of it. Firstly, the ticket sale isn’t going as strong as it should. Did you say — steading bet Comes the time of y' and we triumphed to the tune of nine to nothing. They only got one hit the whole game. Friday at the game in Tavares the score was 6-5. Coach Clement, you have a fine ball club. Even as good as the Senior play is going to be. Charles Wareing and I do a pretty screechy Charleston in it— the Senior play. Our swim team had a meet with Eustis last Friday afternoon at the Eustis pool. The girls raced for experience only but the boys team raced for points. Scoring for Mount Dora were Robert Sadler with 6 points, Barry Graves and Merrill Schulster with 3 each, Bob Cleary with 2, Chris Ray and Len nie Vincenti with 1 each. The Senior play is on a Friday too, at 8 in the Community building. Barry Graves is going to Wash ington, D. C., for the national Safety Patrol assembly and parade. Barry, traveling with the Tampa Motor Club group, left for Wash ington’ May 1 and will return the 5th. The local Kiwanis club is footing the bill for the trip. It’s a shame Barry won't be here for the Senior play. The 10A homeroom had a bake sale at the Princess theatre last Saturday. They held the draw ing for the cake everyone had given dime donations for and the lucky winner was Smith. class reports of $28 The for their efforts, the money made on the Senior play goes for a gift to the school. The high school was entertained with a one-act comedy entitled “Surprise Party” presented by the 8A homeroom at assembly last Friday. In the cast were Sharon Roach, Henry Land, Dickie Jean Reich, Mark Williams, Martha Lynch, Dodie Vincent, Mary Helen Huett, Kenneth Janotta and Susie Bardwell. The Senior play is a 3-act comedy entitled “All in the Family.” Tomorrow is the election for the Student Council President for the school year 57-58. Four Juniors are running for this top office as head of the student gov ernment. The school is covered with banners and posters ing the candidates slogans. Run ing for office are Jo Brown, Mary Lou Davidson, Mary Kay Reh baum and Larry Smith. Here are samples of the candidates posters, “Don’t be a schmoo, vote for Jo.” I'm voting for Mary Lou, are you?” “Mary Kay Rehbaum is the best by far,” and “A Man for a Man’s job. The election will be held the same day as the Senior play. The Reids took a group of teenagers to Daytona Beach for the weekend to celebrate Janice’s 14th birthday. Those attending were Sharon Roach, Dickie Jean Reich, Susie Bardwell, Carol Ed gerton, Mary Price, Judy Baker, Dot Johnston, Debbie Sanders, Martha Lynch, Charles Reid, Bill Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Baker. We hear they had a lot of fun. You'll have fun watching the Senior class play too. See you there!
