OBITUARYMrs. Mary W. Eden, died at her late home in Paton. Greene Co. Iowa April 19, 1896; aged 67 years 19 days. The cause of her death was a cancer of which she had been a constant sufferer for nearly two years. Mis. Eden was born in South Shields, England April 1, 1829 and in 1846 was united in marriage to Thomas Eden also of South Shields. To them were born eight children—six sons and two daughters, two of the children being born in England. In 1850 they sailed for America in one of Mr. Eden’s father’s ships and landed in New Brunswick where they lived one year and then moved to Elgin, 111., where Mr. Eden engaged in the grain and lumber business and where he died in 1859 after a long illness. Mrs. Eden came to Patpn, Greene Co., Iowa in 1892 and lived with her daughter Mrs. J. L, Hunt until her late demise. Four children survive her, John W. Eden of Chicago who is employed in the K. H. Co’s office and Fred Eden of Elgin, 111. who is with the Chicago and Noith Western railroad company, Miss Lavincia Eden who has been a teacher in the institute for deaf mutes at Jacksonville, III. for the past 23 years, and Mrs. M. E. Hunt of Paton who is engaged in the millinery business. Mrs. Eden was a coasistant member of the Universalist church during her life in America and of Episcopal church of England previous to that. 1 wo days before he* death she made the remark: lam happy in Jesus fori know he is waiting for me.
