A VISIT TO HOMER.tlnStiFt(PstSG[To Tin* Guardian.]My friend and I anticipated much pleasure in our visit to Homer, and 08 the morning train, of which we were passengers, stopped at the depot we realized that our pleasures had begun, for who willjdeny that the greeting of old friends whom you love is not a great pleasure? Immediately we entered a carriage and were rapidly driven to our friend's beautiful home. There we f0i entered the spacious hall and was !t! shown into the parlor where we. were greeted by the hostess who a* delightfully entertained us when soon the welcome sound of the dinner-bell reached our ears and we were led into the dining-room where we did justice to a most bountiful repast. After dinner a drive through the city was proposed by our host which was readily accepted by us, and shortly afterward, we were seated in the carriage drivingthrough the ptrccts of your littlecity. We passed neat cottages with lovely lawns and flower gardens wheic peace and prosperity seemed to reiglin. Wo then drove around the public square which is, as itwere, the nucleus of the city. Here we saw that many improvements had taken place since our last visit and that everything bore a lively business air which can only prevail where energetic and prosperous people dwell.tlIfnlt;ktlfcfiwsi]£b15birb;IT
