Jeanne Humeniuk of 404 Durston Ave., has been awarded the 1983 Founders’ Scholarship by Local Union 1484 of the International Brother hood of Electrical Workers. She is employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. as a drafting technician and is a member of Local 1484. The scholarship is worth $2,500 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study or until a bachelor's degree is attained. A graduate of West Genesee High School, Miss Humeniuk is attending evening classes at Onondaga Community College to complete her associate's degree requirements. She plans to get a bachelor of science degree in computer engi neering. Three Syracuse University faculty members published books recently. Skopec, assistant professor of speech communication, Ruth Thorne Clyde of Camillus has been elected Organizing Secretary General of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolu tion. Mrs. Clyde, an Honorary State Regent of New York, is a member of General Asa Danforth Chapter where she became Chairman of DAR Hepat leading up to the Chapter Regency Offce, Gene Harvey (Surstone, Incorporated, North Syracuse), Joseph Hughes (Sweetheart Dairy Store, North Syracuse), and Edward Szczesniak (Liverpool) have been appointed delegate and alternates from the 118th Assembly District to the Second Annual New York State Small Busi ness Conference. The appointments were an nonced by Assemblyman Michael J. Bragman. This year's conference will focus on tax admin istration and tax policy. The two-day session will be held in Albany May 24-25. Dr. John F. Siau, a faculty member at the State University College of Environmental Science and Forestry, has been awarded a $143,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to continue studying the effects of temperature gradient on the move ment of moisture in wood. Siau has been a professor in the wood prod ucts engineering department for 14 years. Air Force Master Spt. Frederick A. McNabb, son of Lena McNabb of 110 Victoria Place, has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal at Yokota Air Base, Japan. McNabb, a radio supervisor with the 1956th Communications Group, is a 1964 graduate of Paul V. Moore High School, Central Square. His brother, Francis A. The position has been created through a grant awarded to the College by the U.S. Department of Education under provisions of Title IIT of the Higher Education Act of 1965, Derek Russell and Barbara Boyd, seventh- and eighth-graders, re spectively, at West Genesee Junior High School, will represent the Ca millus Optimist Club May 15 in statewide speech competition at The Beeches restaurant in Rome. They won the right to enter the New York State Optimist Clubs’ annual speech contest by winning local and county level contests that were sponsored by the Optimists.
