J-Alpha Omicron witnessed with mahy ^Mr;Mr:kinliarfriends the fifth annual banquet, Friday evening, May 4th, in the refectory of Johnson C. Smith University. This occasion is considered the most elaborate and outstanding affair fostered in' the Queen City's j * social cirles at this season.MaThe brothers in the bond of Alpha sat ges in ecstacy aroused by the scenery which wafted one from the rushing vehicles ofnetliarCharlotte's thoroughfares to the mild pas- gusMeAd;er,MaTiOUIStcder is ;we i ofLitha^whsive desert; where nature had worked for many a year to beautify. The Sphinx, the production of the ages pastT^was arranged -so as to look down upon the feasting tables with glistening eyes of pleasure on the sons An and daughters of Greece. The Banquet Hall was magnificently adorned, drapped in the colors of AlphaPhi Alpha, black and gold, forming a dome, respectifully^ emblematic of the race from which we came and the zenith for which we strive. Soft light, radiating welcome, good cheer and hospitality smiled and glowed with enchanting rays, while gorgeous flowers and ferns permeated the air with fragrant odors.Palms graced the aisles with drooping ^leaves which seemed to have been kissed cluby many a desert moon. Waiters moved obeisantly to and fro in the silence of the desert men while at the side of each brother sat a fair, vivacious debutante, tender and pure as the signs of the rippling waters. The picturesque array of sights, scenes and other artistic arrangements were due to the constructive work and imagination of Bro. T. L. Plair, the interior decorator. soOther members of the Banquet Committee were: Bro. G. R. Dockery, Chairman; Bro. s0T. E. Gilliard and Bro. V. H. Chavis.
