Bruner, of the agricultural department, is now in Paris, looking after the installation of the N -rth Carolina exhibit, which is in all respects the finest made by any state save California. The latter is always pre-eminent at all expositions.The rains continue. The farmers are very blue. It is stated that less plowing has been done than the oldest inhabitants can recall, up to this date.Th*-re is to be a bench show of dogs at the state fair here in October. Geo. T. Leach has been to High Point, to interest the owners of the kennels in that section in the show. He says there are four noted kennels—those of George Gould. MacKay (of the Atlantic cable). Brokaw and Pierre Lorillard. all of New York. Br*okaw has lost many dogs by distemper this year, and Macky has lost thirteen. Gould makes a specialty of pointers. He and the others have the exclusive privilege of shooting over vast areas of lands, paying the state and county taxes for longterms of years. Gould has in this way15.000 acres, Maekay 12.000. Lorillard '.000. Brokaw 4,000. The last has in his kennels Joe Cummings, a pointer, for which he paid J1.100. All these kennels will be well represented at the bench show.
