I’m also very proud of the outstanding young men that participated in our basketball program,” said Schlekeway. The coach also said the com munity should be proud of the kids. They represented the high school and the community ex tremely well. The 1976-77 Falcons started slowly as they dropped early season games to Douglas, Ver million and Bassett, Neb. Follow ing the new year the Falcons found winning ways and proceed ed to win 10 of 12 games. ‘‘We changed some things after our Christmas break. We went to full court pressure defense and more continuity in our offense and it seemed to change things for us,” said Schlekeway. The Falcons lost to Douglas in first round play of the section VII tournament 70 to 54. In the third place game Rapid City Central defeated the Falcons 54 to 58 in overtime. The final statistics for the year showed that the Falcons scored 1208 points, good for 60.4 points per game. Opponents scored 1155 for 57.7 points per game. The Falcons made 502 of 1264 field goal attempts for 39.7 per cent. From the free throw line they made 202 of 370 for 55 per cent. Rich Good Weasel led the TCHL scorers with 322 points, an average of 16.1 points per game. Randy Halligan scored 160, Ralph Vasquez 159, Dick Kazda 154, Dave Courtney 115, Dan Pahlke 112, Tony Carpenter 47, Bill White 94, Gary Teachout 4 and Don Yellow Hair 2. Halligan led Todd County rebounders with 244, an average of 12.2 per game. Vasquez had 119, Kazda 115, Pahlke 105, Good Weasel 90 and White 42. The team pulled down 818 rebounds in 20 games for 40.9 per game. The Blue and Gold had 341 recoveries for the year. Good Weasel led that department with 62. Vasquez had 57. The Falcons had 193 assists with Good Weasel getting 42 and White 40. The Todd County Falcons will lose Halligan, Kazda, White. Eleven win TC letters Jim Schlekeway, head basket ball coach at Todd County High School, has announced letter winners for the 1976-77 season. The seniors winning TC mono grams are Randy Halligan, Dick Kazda, Bill White, Rich Good Weasel, Dan Pahlke, Ralph Vasquez, Andrew Bearshield and Don Yellow Hair. Juniors Tony Carpenter, Gary Teachout and Dave Courtney also received their varsity basketball letter. The student managers for the Falcons were Vonnie Short Bull and Reggie Reifel. Good Weasel, Pahlke, Vasquez, Andrew Bearshield and Yellow Hair through graduation. ‘‘These boys have been very important to our program and have given us a lot. We will miss them all very much, both on and off the floor,”’ said Schlekeway.
