‘Y’ Freshman. Repeats Victory of Last Fall; M. Taylor Comes Second. When Lawrence Golding, little marathon runner from Price, won the Brigham Young university spring cross country race Friday in the time of 13 minutes 24 sec onds, it was the second time in the space of six months that he has won a “¥” distance race. Last November, Golding was a victor in the fall cross country ace, winning over the same route in 13 minutes 11 seconds. The course record is held by LaMar Taylor, 13:03.8. Menneill Taylor, red-haired mid dle-distance and distance man from Mexico, entered the stadium first but was left behind in Gold ing's relentless, last lap spurt. Taylor dropped back when Gold ing pounded into the last stretch around the stadium track cinders. Dennis Third— In third place was Elvin Dennis, Roosevelt, and Elone Farnsworth, another athlete from Mexico, came last. There were only four start ers, the smallest list of entries ever registered in the race, ac cording to Prof. C.J. Hart, intra murel director, who was starter. All four men were experienced runners, however. All but Taylor were unaffiliated with any social unit. He is a Val kyrie. Golding and Dennis are freshmen; Taylor and Farnsworth are sophomores. As usual in the distance races, several thoughtless automobile drivers made it difficult for the runners to breathe during the jaunt over the dirt road sector. They drove along in front of the runners, churning up the dust. Golding 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 118 pounds and is 19 years old.
