YOUNG MOORHEAD STAR FACES “SCOTTY” MCDOUGAL IN DOUBLE WINDUP Shiek Takes On Moran; Bushaw Meets Gillespie; Wood Opposed To Grand Forks Scrapper By DICK HACKENBERG Elks Matchmaker Leo Kossick is going to find out in a great big hurry if Billy Norton, Fargo wel terweight, is as good as his knock out victory over Al Gabrisch last Tuesday made him appear to be. Norton, whose right cross to the jaw in the first round of the Gab risch affair was about as pretty a starboard wallop as fans here have witnessed in years, will face none other than Caddy Casey, the vic ious St. Paul welter, in the feature of next Tuesday's Elks charity fund all boxing card. The match is for six rounds at 145 pounds. Casey, recently sus pended by the Minnesota boxing commission, was reinstated a week ago by Walter E. Quigley, commis sion secretary, after a private work out to satisfy Quigley that the young boxer is really in good shape. Kessick “sat in’ on the private workout and says Caddy looked as good as ever. Never Disappointing Casey has never turned in a dis appointing fight in Fargo. He is ruthless in the ring, a terrific puncher and a Smart boxer. His “open” style makes him absorb a lot of punches in close but he is a crafty ring general. Norton, launching a comeback, was im pressive in his 1934 debut in Stop ping Labrisch but he threw only two real punches in that mix—the right cross that sent Al down for an eight-count, and the right up percut that again sent him to the floor at the bell ending the first round. Gabrisch was unable to answer the bell for the second round. These two gloved gladiators must share the spotlight, however, with an up and coming Moorhead youth whose rapid development in the ring has won him a wide follow ing. Max Kalbrener, rocketing to a featured position after a half dozen fights, meets Scotty Mc Dougal, a reputedly tough test from St. Paul, in the first six round bout of the double windup at 142 pounds. It is the first six rounder of Max ie’s embryonic career. Shiek Returns Fast-stepping Howard Shiek of Fargo returns to the ring, for the first time since Frankie Knauer broke his jaw more than a year ago, to meet Johnny Moran, also of Fargo, in four rounds at 148 pounds. Moran appears to be much improved over his performances of last season and it is believed he will give Shrek a tough evening. A four round bout between Eddie Gillespie of Staples and Elroy Bu shaw of Grand Forks at 135 pounds will make a good-sized bid to steal the show. Gillespie returns to the Elks arena after a trip to the Pa cific coast. A sort of feud exists be tween Bushaw on the one hand and Gillespie and Harry Larson, also of Staples, on the other. Only recently Larson stopped Bushaw at Grand Forks and Elroy will be out to take Gillespie’s measure here Tuesday by way of retribution. Sonny Wood killed Sonny Wood, surprising Fargo youngster who started from scratch and is winning consistently, will meet Kid Jackson of Grand Forks in four rounds at 135 pounds. Another four-rounder will be announced early next week, Kos sick said in announcing his card today. No wrestling match graces the Elks card for the first time in sev eral weeks.
