The annual clean up day at the Vinland cemetery was set for Tuesday, March 24, but owing to weather it was postponed until Wednesday. The cemetery is now in fine shape; much improvement has been done in the past few years in the way of pulling hedge, and putting up good substantial fences. The north acre which was donated by a friend has been seeded to grass and plans are being formed for the planting of some trees, the kind yet to be decided. The Vinland cemetery improve ment club recently had a meeting at the home of Mrs. W. H. Hoskinson and Mrs. A. K. Stevens was elected president. Mrs. W. Hoskinson was elected secretary and treasurer which position she has held since the organization of the club. Plans for the flower beds were made. Charlie Olson who is president of the Vinland Cemetery Association has recently prepared a plot of the cemetery which may be inspected at the shelter house. William Landon has been employed as sex ton, Jake Davault who has been stay ing with his daughter, Mrs. A Randel is now at the home of his son Wesley Davault. A play, “Who's the Coward Now?” given for the benefit of the Athletic Association, will be on Friday evening, April 3 at the high school auditorium. The cast is as follows: Jim Burley, owner of a cattle ranch, Leslie Miller; Steve Tuttle, a broncho buster, Leo Ha german; General Blanchard, com mander Fort Macon; Woodrow Sturdy; Lieut. Robert Thurston of his staff, Roy Hoskinson; Willie Warren, a reporter, Alvin Jones; McClinchy, 2 ranch owner, Homer Laughlin; So Long, a coolie, Mel vin Edmonds; Jose Rotaro, a vaq uero, Raymond Horrell; Roaming Bear; chief of the Ute tribe, Perry Wayne McPheeters; Margaret Bur ley, daughter’ of Jim, Mildred Paasch; Mira Wiggs, a western wild flower, Hazel Hoskinson; Wa kita, daughter of the chief, Lovia TDeay; Uriah Burley, Jim’s wife, Vernell Hagerman, Miss Phylic Shumaker will direct the play. Mr. and Mrs. Bert O'Neil of ‘Baldwin and Mrs. Wesley Davault and Mrs. Edna Davault and daugh ter of Wellsville were callers at Mr. and Mrs. A. Andrews Sunday. Mrs. Anna Fenton is improved after a two weeks’ illness. The Vinland grade school teacher s and pupils will present their pro gram at the high school on Friday evening, April 6.
