Grace Hoop Johnston in our last issue, we referred to the sad death of Mrs. J. Johnston, who passed away in St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, March 22nd, at the early age of 22 years, 9 months. The late Mrs. Johnston (nee Grace Tiltman) was born in Aber deen, Scotland, and moved to Can ada with her parents when 5 years of age, coming direct to Rivers. She was educated at Rivers School, and is remembered by us as a bright, good natured girl, who was a favorite with everybody. When old enough, she became a member of the Rivers Ladies Baseball Club, helping to make the team one of the strongest in the district. She was married on June 1st, 1921, to Mr. John Samuel Johnston making her home in Rivers for a time, and then moving to Trans cona, where she resided until her death. There are two children living, Joseph, aged 5 years, and William, aged two years. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon. The Rivers United Church was Glled with mourners and friends, and the floral tributes were simply wonderful in numbers and in beauty. Following a short service, conducted by Rev. Mr. Patteson, interment was made at Rivers cemetery. The pall bearers were all mem bers of Rivers Loyal Orange Lodge ,Messrs J. C. Cousins, Jas. Mc Fadden,H. Wareham, A. Ware ham, E. J. Forman and T. W. Offen. J. R. Thompson was the under taker. We wish to pay our tribute to this young life so sadly taken from us. We treasure it as a precious memory, and join in sympathy with the bereaved husband and two children; the father and moth er, and other members of the fam ily.
