Winter sports banquetThe winter sports banquet was recently held at South Central High School. There was a pot luck held prior to the awards ceremony. Those in attendance were able to here a message given by speaker Joe Jakubik, who related some of his experiences to the student-athletes.There were many athletes honored for their accomplishments during the season. The varsity basketball team MVP honor was shared by Matt Clemons and Brett Seidei. Clemons. Thad Shipman and Darren Hunt received plaques for varsity basketball captains. The most improved trophy went to junior Chad French.The girls basketball athletes also received recognition for their season. Lisa Walcher received the special coach’s award. Most improved honors went to Lori Wilken. Those receiving captains plaques were Tina Bel. Andrea Back and Lisa Walcher.The wrestling program honored several of their fine athletes for their hard, dedicated work this season. Winning the MVP award was Shawn Phillips, captains plaques went to Phillips and Andrew Stryker. Mike Donahue received the all important award, most improved.Boys varsity basketball, 1st year letter-Duane Kimball, Chad French, Nathan Ahtill, Josh Risner, Jeff Lacy, and Luke Clemons; 2nd year awards went to Brett Seidel, Darren Hunt, Thad Shipman and Matt Clemons; JV award winners-Jason Wiles, Brad Whatman, Ryan Bond, Scott Morrow, Bob Reber, Ryan Caudill, Tony Per-sky, Lester Eastman, Nathan Montgomery, Keith Oney, and Ben Williams.BandtasiaSouth Central will be holding its Annual Bandtasia Tuesday, March 30. at 7 p.m. This will take place in the high school gymnasium.
