Extension beef cattle specialist with New Mexico State University, speaking of the Tucumcari Bull Test Sale held March 21. The average selling price per bull was $1,394, down from an average of $1,799 in 1979. The top selling bull, an Angus, sold to Marvin L. Watts, Carlsbad, for $7,000. The Angus was sold by Don Bennett, Lorenzo, Texas. A.F. Flint Jr., Bard, sold the second top dollar bull. Two buyers, A.F. Flint Sr., Bard, and Bob Miller, Mable, Minn., bought the Angus bull for $6,000. The third top selling bull sold for $4,000 by Doolittle Ranch, Watrous. The bull was sold to Walter Myer, Florence, Ariz. Glenn Burrows, Clayton, sold the fourth top selling bull for $3,750 to William C. Bruce, Lucerne, Mo. The average prices for the different breeds were as follows: Angus, $1,512; Polled Hereford, $1,490; Hereford, $1,342; and Charolais, $1,043. The Tucumcari Per formance-Tested Bull Sale annually follows the Per formance Test.
