Spring concert pastLast Friday night the Associated Students of Weber State College featured “Hamilton, Joe Frank Reynolds in concert in the Fine Arts Auditorium.The near capacity audience listened as the group from Playboy Records performed their top success, two of which passed the million seller mark.They performed their 1971 million seller “Don’t Pull Your Love. The lyrics were written by Hamilton, as were the words to many of the love songs. The other more recent million seller was “Failin’ In Love. The lyrics were written to Mrs. Hamilton from her husband, Danny Hamilton.While Hamilton is given much credit for the lyrics, (he music is composed on the most part by Alan Dennison. He is the pianist, and was the replacement for Tommy Reynolds. Dennison experiments with various symphonic song forms, and expanding these creates a new style in today’s contemporary music field. The work of the great composers Chopin and Bach has had the most influence on Dennison's music.The popular song “Winners and Losers was also performed by the group. They also did a song from their latest record recorded two weeks ago. The song was “Everyday Without You, which says “everyday without you is a day without love.To change the pace they did acountry number titled “Get On the Bus. The audience took active part during this number by clapping and cheering. The group also did a ballad. It was “Love Is. A few words from it are “Love is giving, love is living all my life for you, and I want you, 1 want you with me all- my life through.The drummer Johnny Brado, had a solo in the Number “Let It Shine. Brado is a new member of the group.Joe-Frank also did several solos. One was “Who Do You Love?The audience brought back “Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds for two encores. The first came after much clapping and an ovation. The second one came after the audience clapped and cheered “more, more ... The stage manager said he had never seen an audience do such a thing.The group had a lew good remarks, Hamilton said “that audience was neat, and “it was fun. Joe Frank said “you didn't have to worry about anything.After the performance the quartet was followed downstairs by a number of high school students. The students, had to wait half an hour to see the group and only a few waited.Performing on the same show prior to “Hamilton, Joe P’rank and Reynolds. was soloist Doug Ross. He performed for 45 minutes, singing and playing his guitar.
