William Dixon, director for the Community Theater's first pro duction, “The Matchmaker, has announced the cast roster for the Thornton Wilder play which will be presented May 9-11 in the au ditorium of Longfellow Junior High. Mrs. James (Elaine) Klund will have the name role, Mrs. Levi, the ‘‘Matchmaker.”’ Others, with stage names, in clude Chandler Campbell as Horace Van der Gelder; Tom Lynch as Cornelius; Don Thomp son as Barnaby; Barbara Smith wick as Mrs. Malloy and Joe Skaggs as Ambrose Kemper; Colleen Kavanaugh as Ermen garde; Don Frank, as Joe; Dor othy Kisling as Flora Van Huy sen; Dorothy McLaughlin as Min nie; Dr. Fred de Wit as Rudolf; Dennis Roellich as Malachi; Wil ma Hoak as Gertrude; Ernest Le Duke as the cabman; Dick Shay, as August; and Jeanette Lee as the cook. Rehearsals are being held in the basement of Christ Episcopal Church. Set construction also is being done there. “The Matchmaker,” is a farce which takes place in 1880 New York. It tells of a merchant of Yonkers who despite his age, de cides to take a wife. To help him, he employs a ‘‘matchmaker,”’ a woman who subsequently be comes involved with two of his clerks, assorted young and lovely ladies and the headwaiter of an expensive restaurant. Things appear to get straight ened out, but the merchant finds himself as putty in the hands of the woman he hired.
