BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONMrs. Jane Clark Prigg, one of; the most highly esteemed of the; older residents of this community, ! celebrated her 84th birthdav an-1niversary last Sunday, March 25,!iat which time her children and i)members of their families met at her home to spend the day with her celebrating the event. With the exception of W. W. Prigg andfamily of New Castle, all the children of Mrs. Prigg were present. They were unable to attend because of business calling him away and of:isickness in the family. Those pres-; ent were John Q. Prigg and family,!tMonroe Prigg, J. P. Prigg and i wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Franklin,Jthe latter being a daughter of Mrs. j Prigg. Henderson Cummins, who will soon be 90 years old, the father! of Mrs. John Q. Prigg, was also a guest. The day was spent in 2. social good time and at noon a splendid dinner was enjoyed.Mrs. Prigg recalls the fact of her father. Jesse Clark, who at the time of Mrs. Prigg’s birth lived on what is now known as the old Prigg homestead, telling her that on thenight of her birth in 1833, that a large black bear made a raid on ! his hogs. Mrs. Prigg has lived in this community to see it developed from a frontier settlement, sparsely*| settled, into one of the most popu-%t lous communities in the state.
