M. L. P.J. W. Foltz was born March 9, 1877, and died at his home near Hawkinstown, Va., March 23, 1904 ; aged 27 years and 14 days.The last illness of the deceased covered a period of about three weeks. He lived iu full communion with the Evangelical Lutheran church for a number of years, and we hence believe he enjoys that eternal glory to which Christ had called him through the Gospel. He is survived by his devoted wife, two children, a father, brothers, sisters and a large circle of rela tives aud friends. Truly “in the midst of life we are in death.99 J. P. S.Lewis Henkel—Bright, ambitious, and full of faith in God, was Lewis Henkel, of Basic City, Va. After a long struggle with disease, he williugly and gladly yielded up his spirit to God who gave it. All his neighbors speak well of him. His physician aud his pastor were remarkably struck with his readiness to depart and his resignation to God’s will, llis decease occurred ou March 19th. He was nearly eighteen years old. Had he lived it was bis intention to go to Roa uoke College to prepare for greater usefulness in the world. He was a student, and loved books. They were his best friends. His fondness for historic aud encyclopaedic knowledge was noticeable. He was born at New Market, Va., and was a son of John C. Henkel, Esq. His pastor Rer. Y. Von A. Riser couducted a funeral service at the home of the deceased. He was buried in the family square at New Market, Va. He had been baptized by Rev. S. Henkel* I).I D . aud confirmed bv Rev.
