JOHN VAN DEN BAARDJohn Van Den Baard, 88, died Thursday, March 22, at the Pella Community Hospital..Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, at the First Baptist Church here with Rev. Armand R. Renskers, pastor of the Second Reformed Church here, officiating. Burial was at the Graceland Cemetery.Van Den Baard was born Jan. 4, 1885, in the San-dridge community to Cornelius and Maggie (Van Bentum) Van Den Baard. • He was married to Margaret Vriezelaar in 1911. ; !He resided in Pella at the. time of his death after living most of his life in the. rural Otley area.Active in community affairs, he served as. director and president of the Otley School District, a trustee for Summit township as well as on election boards. He was president of the Otley Farmers Co-operative Exchange, an organizer and director of the Marion County Fire Insurance Association, an organizer and treasurer of the Pella Co-operative Electric Association, and a chairman of the Marion County Farm Bureau and REA.He is survived by his wife, two sons, Cornelius of Pella and John of West Covina, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Buwalda of Pella and Mrs, Lloyd (Marjorie) Swank ofOtley, two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Minnie) In’t Veld of Monroe and Mrs. Clyde (Nellie) Richabaugh of Pella, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, James, and four sisters, Mrs. Dick (Ella) DenOtter, Mrs. Ralph (Sarah) Van Cleave, Mrs. Lucian (Gertrude) Tuinstra and Mrs. Ben (Jane) Renaud.He was. a member of the First Baptist Church here at the time of his death.Funeral arrangements were made through the Garden Chapel Funeral Home here.C1YSBERT (BERT)
