Her work is very a “labor of love.”She has been associated w ith Mrs. Jerry Gover, former owner, who also formed the Newcomers Club of Plano, a club that is made up of newer Plano citizens who have lived in the city two. years or less.It was “love at first sight” with Plano when Mrs. Choate became associated with Mrs. Gover, as they greeted hundreds of newcomer families, while working closely with the Chamber of Commerce in compiling information for the newcomers. She is, of course, a Chamber of Commerce member.Mrs. Choate moved to Plano from Lovington, New Mexico, three and a half years ago. Her husband is James Choate, an employee of the General Telephone Company, as a Central Office Switchman.“I work closely with our Chamber of Commerce,” Mrs. Choate says. “It’s not only a business, but also aservice to all of Plano.”She adds; “Plano Hospitality Service has greeted 4,191 new families in Plano in the past five and one-half years and represents some of the oldest as well as some of the newer growing Plano businesses.Making them feel strictly at home, Plano Hospitality Service greets each newcomer family with a warm welcome and a wealth of information and free gifts from local or ganizations and merchant? that she represents.Mrs. Choate spends about 20 minutes with each newcomer family, “talking abouf our clients and Plano in general. Most newcomers have a myriau oi questions about our schools, churches, civic and business organizations as well as the business firms I represent.”“Most of our merchants are the same ones that started with the business five and one-half years ago,” sh* added.at home and glad they are a Plano citizen because of her genuine enthusiasm and warmth, and her love for Plano and community. “Our policy has always been not to accept competing clients in the business.”Through the efforts of the Newcomers Club, formed by Mrs. Gover, the newcomers in Plano are brought together and become acquainted with their city, community and neighbors. Social activities that are conducted by this club include bridge, handicrafts, bowling and social activities.Mrs. Choate stresses that the Plano Hospitality Service is not a service to supply the merchant with personal information about the newcomer. Rather, it is to supply the newcomer basic information about Plano and to give a personal recommendation of each merchant represented in the folder that is presented.Getting About□du nraora □□□□ □□□ UEDLl□□a anoauranonHORIZONTAL 56 Heredity unit ^ 57 Observe 1 Movmg ——4 Used lor VIRTICAL getting about l Immense on snow 2 Region 8 Kind 3 This gets the12 Exist news about13 Distant 4 Scatter (prefix) 3 Loyal (Scot.)□□a nnno__raaau anunnnc aoaraan naanng DDuaun nariQBB □on raunn nanu nona ann uatacan usanunnw r lEyacaciBiian anuraone? nsanfi OQ0U edooq anaOFFICERS AND Directors of the newly-formed Key Club of Plano, sponsored by the Plano Kiwair s Club, are, first row, left to right: Rocky Shields, Sophomore Director; Eugene Majors.
