They are now receiving ‘Indian money,’ and ‘Indian money1 is easy money. By these methods our people are on-co□ raged to remain in the Indian country as Indians and their progress and advancement is seriously retarded.11When this matter was brought to the attention of the Secretary a telegram was promptly sent to Agent Hinton to suspend action in j all cases in which notice bad been sent to the parents of minor children requiring them to show cause why the names of their minor children should not be stricken from the rolls, and the issuance of ; further notices prohibited pending a consideration of the matter.The delegation has also taken up with the Department the matter of the withholding by Agent Hinton and others'from the parents of the moneys standing to the credit of the minor children. The Indian Bureau is in a hot box. It is attempting to justify its course. The Department, however, is causing the Indian Office to limber up. Last week the delegation presented the case of Mrs. Poltr Bray of White Earth.
