JESSIE JAMES GIBBIE SR. GASTONIA — Jessie James Gib bie Sr, 91, of 2947 Sparrow Springs Road, died March 24, 2007, at Wendover Hospice of Shelby. He was born June 12, 1915, in Cherokee County, son of the late Charlie and Carrie Pat ton Gibbie. He was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle and was re tired from Firestone Mills. He played and sang gospel music all over the country with his wife and other family members, and was involved in the rest home ministry, prison camp ministry and other ministries. Vincent Cannava and his regi ment band entertained the troops and officers. While living in Chicago, he played with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and he started the Vincent Anthony Or chestra.
