The deceased was a son of Jonah Spurgeon who came to this county from North Carolina as early as 1810, and settled Dear Norris on what is now known as Spurgeon bill, sick where Joseph was bora. Wiley Spurgeon, a brother of Joseph, lives in Brown county and is a utiog | veteran of the Mexican war. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Winslow, of this county. Joseph was at) honest, industrious citizen. He believed that bread was not sweet unless earned mBcn | by honest toil. He labored as long as his physical strength would permit andthen desired to live no longer. The funeral services were held at his son's home Friday at 10 a, ro., conducted by Rev. I. I. St. Jobo. Many of his grandchildren were present at the funeral to pay the last tribute of respect to their grandfather. Shall the memory of aged lathers pass into forgetfulness.
