Mr. McDaniel Lost Home and Nearly all Effects: Wareaboro, «March 26, — Laat night about 7350 the residence of Mr. J. A. McDaniel caught on fire burning his house to the ground. The origin of the fire is unknown though it was supposed to be set afire by fate. Mr. McDaniel was sleeping when he was awakened by the fire rustling through the walk into his room. He jumped out of bed and grabbed his three small children whom he carried outside to safety. He then fired a gun, which wisda his room. The re sult was thateveral people were soon on the spot and succeeded bn having a few beds and tracks. The incurance policy was burned up with the rest of the property; the insurance was about $600 on his house and $600 on his furniture ranking a total of 61200 in all. He lost several land deeds in the fire, also about $00 in currency. Mr. McDaniel’s family are staying for friends houses until he can get straight again. We all extend to him our utmost sympathy, an d hope he will be able to go on again. Mr. F. 0. Wilson accompanied by Mr. H.D. McDonald of Mc Donald, Ga., were the pleasant visitors of Miss Lorena Baker jon, Sunday evening, Mm. Mr. J. ©. Rouse visited in Mill wood Saturday,on business. Mr. A. J. Sweat, of Glenmore, attended church here Sunday, Mrs. W. H. Roberta returned from Bedch, Ga., Saturday where she had been on a short visit. Mr. Bob Martin,of Fairfax was in our town Sunday, Mrs. H. F.Stevens was expected here Sunday from Ashburo, ‘a.,, but was detained on account of her children having measles. There were two girls and two hoya baptized at the old millpond [near here Sunday, Miss Vera Baker visited friends act r relatives.in Waycross Sunday- Schlatterville Items. Schlatterville, March 6,—The people of this place have prepared their land for planting, and some have already planted and have corn six inches high. ‘There was preaching at Pierce Chapel last Surday and also at the Christian Second Advent church by Brother James Lee, Mr. Oscar Walker from Way cross, was down home Sunday, Mises Nettie Cameron and Bell Griffin of Fort Mudge visited Miss Jave Griffin Saturday night. — Mr. P. A. Shomac, attended church at Pieroo chapel Saturday night. Strickland and P. Ammons were in Waydtoos last Saturday. The farmers of the lower section of Schlatt,Fyille district say they will be Bit ‘if Rape Waycross and /8t. Marge rail ‘ompany will ‘build their through that ee - yon and Mr. .He- Daniel Cox were married that Thursasy night about 10 ‘o'clock, Mra. 8. B. Pollard who has been very sick for the past three were reported very tough improved.
