March -Jtt. - Last night about 7:30 the residence of Mr. J. A. McDauiel caught on fire burning his house to the groufld. The origin of the firo is uukuowu tfi ,ugh it was supposed to be aot afire by rats. Mr. McDaniel was sleeping wheu he was awakened by the lire rustling through the wail, into his room. He jumped out of bed and grabbed bis three small children whom he carried outside to safety. He theu fired a gun which was-la bis room. The result was that -several peoplo were soon ou the spot and succeeded in saving a few beds and trunks. The iusurauce policy was burned up with the rest of the property. Theiusuranoe was abbut $000 on his house and-$000 on bis furniture., making a total of $1200 in all. He lust several land deeds in the lire, also about $00 in cnrreuoy.
