Lions Seek Talent For Annual Pancake ProjectMembers of the Mokena Lions club are giving their respective skills trial runs these days in preparation for their ninth annual pancake day which is coming up Saturday, April 4.Trinity School for the mental-ly retarded is to benefit thru the proceeds of the event.The pancakes—with sausage —will be served in the St. Mary social center, Wolf road, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. with tickets selling at $1. Such a ticket entitles the holder to stow away all the cakes and sausage he can eat.Pancake day calls for a variety of talents. Not only are men needed to keep a supply of batter on hand but cooks are required too, men skilled in handling spatulas and with a quick wrist to flip the cakes; sausage cookers also are in demand, as are men who will keep up the supply of coffee, replenish butter stores and syrup jugs, run errands and—hey, come back here you fellows—and dish washers.Walter Welsch is chairman of the pancake day committee and reports ticket sales have been encouraging.Helping those youngsters at Trinity school should make everyone who buys a ticket feel good, said George Carlisle, president of the Mokena Lions club.YMCA Camp Cookie Sale On April 11Saturday, April 11, will be the kickoff day for the YMCA’s Triple Y day camp cookie sale.
