A 3 year old Westmere boy, sought by several hundred volunteers and by State Police using bloodhounds in the rain-drenched woods near his home last Friday night, was found safe shortly before 1 a. m. (Saturday), standing quietly under a tree. The rescue ended a 13-hour search. Samuel S. Daguillo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Daguillo, 5 Sum ter Ave., who had been missing since 11:30 a. m. Friday, played around his house Saturday as if he had been through no ordeal at all. He told his mother he had stood there waiting for his rescuers — Jo seph, Van Der Linden, Westmere; his son, Joseph Jr. and John A. Mero, of Westmere. 4It was a hunch that led them to find the boy about three-quarters of a mile from his home. Mr. Van Der Linden Sr., who has often hunted in the woods, led his party down the State Farm road, off Route 20, while the dogs were trying vainly to trace the boy nearer his home. . ‘More than~300 volunteer firemen and others stood waiting on Sumter Ave., called out of the woods to let the broodhounds from Troop K, Haw thorne, try to pick up the scent of the boy. Shortly after 1 a’ mon car, blowing its horn, drove down the street to announce the boy had been found. The auxiliaries of the Westmere and Guilderland Fire companies served coffee to the searchers, and coffee and sandwiches were served at Fréd's Super Market in Westmere. Mrs.and Mrs. Daguillo were hard put to express their thanks to every one who helped find their boy. Mrs. Daguillo said: “I thank everyone, and most of all I thank God for keeping him safe.”
