Raymond I. Lafontaine, 67, a retired farmer of near Alvada, died at 9:50 pp. m. Thursday, March 19, 1953, in Fostoria City hospital. In 5 weeks, he had sub mitted to surgery March 8 and had been recuperating satisfactor ily until a week before his death, when his condition became criti cal. Funeral services were conducted from St. Peter's Catholic Church, Alvada, at 9:30 a. m. Monday, the Rev. Marcellus Fortman officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Lafontaine was born at Al vada October 1, 1885, to Nicholas and Mary (Mertens) Lafontaine. He was married October 5, 1909, to Anna Reinhart who died Octo ber 6, 1931. Surviving are 6 sons and three daughters: Florian, Alvada; Lloyd and Silverius, north of Carey; Cletus and Eugene, McHenry, Il.; Pfe. Bernard Lafontaine, en route home on rotation from Korea, and Mrs. Joseph Bugner, Mrs. Norman Rutherford and Mrs. George Wal termeyer, all of Fostoria, 26 grandchildren and a great-grand child. Three daughters, a sister and a brother are dead. Mr. Lafontaine was a member of St. Peter's Church and belonged to the Holy Name Society.
