Chestertown, Md., March 26 — (AP) — Gilmore Burch, 36, was ‘held in Chestertown jail today awaiting hearing at the April term of court on a charge of slaying Perk Pierce, 55, Massey tavern keeper. State’s Attorney Harrison W. Vickers said Burch admitted Tues day night after three days of ques tioning that he struck Pierce with a full beer bottle. Burch, Vickers sat, contended he struck in self defense after Pierce threatened to kill him. Pierce’s body was found in the tavern Sunday morning.
