Fire department's 'Old Betsy' doing just fineIt might be old, but it’s holding Councilman Ed Taylor ques-on just fine.That was the word this week from the city concerning Old Betsy, a 1926 American La France fire truck maintained by the Venice Fire Department for parades.tinned the possible need for funds to maintain the antique at a recent council meeting, but Fire Chief James Culbert said there is no need for the expenditure of any money at this time for the truck.Culbert did indicate, however, that public donations would be used to maintain the truck when it is required. He suggested contributions be made to the Venice finance director by anyone interested in the future upkeep of the fire truck.
