Conceived twenty-nine years ago and brought into being through the loyal co-operation of Anson and Hamlin and their gen erous contributions of some 30, 000 twenty-eight years ago, the Abilene and Southern died at 2:30 p.m. Monday when the last rail was jerked up by a crew of Mexican laborers. The burial will follow for the remaining parts of the road at the round house at Marshall, Texas, in all probability. In its short life the road served Anson and Hamlin well and the two towns shipped a large por tion of their freight over the lines which was owned by the late Morgan Jati until the last ten years when its estate sold the lines to the Texas and Pacific. The funeral services were con ducted several ridatus parestats to the actual death by the Inter state Commerce Comamission at Washington: destination started shortly after despite the pleas of the Abilene Chamber of: Con merce, Anson, Haniin, Abiene and the Athornmes Gienerals de partment and the railroad Brotherhood. The line fron the intersection of the Wichita Valley to the Gut warehouse, just Back of the de pot, has been leased by the T. and BP. to the Fort Worth and Denver and that roueh of the line will be left. A protest was lodged with the city council over the leaving of any part of the dead body but the protest was later withdrawn and the council approved the leasing of the spur to the latter road.
