Holstein Youth Killed North of Alta by Live Wire SundayGordon Warner, 24, son of Mr, and Mrs. Peter Warner of Holstein, was instantly killed Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Clarence Streed farm home 10 miles north of Alta when he grasped a live high tension electric wire leading to the Streed farm yard.Although he had been warned by Mr, Streed not to do so, the young man secured a ladder and ascended to the transformer, threw off the switch and was attempting to tighten a lead wire to the yard light which had been hooked and loosened that morning by a truck. While in this act he thoughtlessly grasped the live wire leading from the high tension line to the transformer and received the full shock.A son of Mr, Streed, sensing the seriousness of the situation, scaled the ladder and succeeding in pulling him loose from the wire but the body caught on a cross arm and Mr. Streed who was called lowered his body llt; the ground. He tried artificial respiration to revive the young man but without success.Mr. Warner was employed at the Streed farm and he and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Streed had expected to be married in a couple weeks.
