Part of this budget was written for last week’s issue, but we couldn't get anyone to carry it out. Messrs. Donald McArthur, Andy Henderson and Wm. McNally and wife left on ‘Tuesday of last week for Saskatchewan. Among those who disposed of horses at last week’s fair, were: W. Cook, E. Norris, J. McCarthy, McNaily and M. Black. Mr. Jim Goodwill moved his family back to the farm from Owen Sound on Friday of last week. He’s convinced that the farm isn’t a bad sort of place despite its drawbacks. The sun was quite brilliant on Thursday morning of last week but not half so radiant as the amis2 on J. J. Peart. He and his popular better half had a fine baby boy come to their home and there is general rejoicing through out the community. John Quillinan has rented Wm. McNay's farm on the 9th con cession for a term of years and last week moved his stock and chattels from Irish Lake. Mr. Wm. Boyle and bride spent a dny last week With Mr. and Mrs. Wesbrang, before leaving for their home at Hawarden Sask. Mr. J. C. ioss was a big supply of togs in the millyard this spring and is rapidly turning them into lumber. ‘ne Zion branch of the Women’s Institute met at the home of Mrs. A. a. Blair on Thursday of last week and had a very instructive sess... Miss May Koveson had an excellent sketch of the “Life of the Earl of Shaftesbury the Friend of the Friendless.” The members are giving up a patriotic quilt com posed of 20 blocks, each block to have 16 names inscribed on it at 10 cents a name. Next month they'll hold an old-ashioned quilting bee followed by a social, and some luck lover will likely pay a big price for this famous covering. Mrs. Blair served a dainty lunch at the close of the meeting. Mrs. John McArthurs sale on Friday proved a most successful one. a5 . MeuPusan wield the hammer. She has rented her farm to well beacon. Mr. Albert McNally brought home a new range on Saturday alus: boys say he is worth keeping an eye on for the next week or two. Mrs. A. G. Blair received word lately of the marriage of her brother, Mr. Wm. Reed, of Ox ford, Mich., to Miss Mary Pritch ard, in Winnipeg, formerly of Vandeleur. The ceremony took place February 16, Rev. R. Pritchard ofiinting. A very happy marriage took place on Tuesday evening, March 16 at the home of Mr. John Mc Nally of the 6th concession, on his 59th birthday, when his eldest daugher, Miss Mary, became the bride of Mr. Hugh McArthur of Bruce, Alberta, who has been spending to winter at the old home on the 4th concession. The ceremony took place in the par lor under a pretty evergreen arch decked with bridal flowers. Miss Ena McNally played the wed ding mare, as the bride took her “, leaning on the arm of her rer. Who gave her away, Rev. S. M. Whaley of Durham, was the sufficiating clergyman. The hand some bride looked most beautiful in a charming gown of cream silt. and no wonder the happy groom looked fondly proud, be cause he has won one of the town ship’s most gived daughters After the union, hearty congratulations were tendered. and then the com pany repaired to tables talen a rich repast and graced a sreyed wedding cake. acintt ™. were the floral gns. The bride who has kindly thoughtful and generous to others received a splendid array of costly and use ful presents, among them being a $50 gift from her father, and a beautiful gold locket set with pearls, the groom’s gift to the bride. The happy cone to Toronto on Thursday, and on Fri day take train for their western home at Bruce, Alberta, where Mr. McArthur is possessor of a half section of rich prairie land. The whole vicinity unite in wishing the popular young couple every joy and prosperity. Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Spencer, who have spent the past two months with kindred in Missouri, came back by way of Detroit to St. Helen’s, where their horse and buggy has been under Geo. Hen ry’s care since fall, and then drove here on Friday. They left this Monday afternoon for Napanee, going by Flesherton to Toronto, and then by Kingston Road. They are much improved in health by their six months’* rest from the farm car and have gained a val uable amount of information con cerning their own province and the corn states. Needless to say they found no place to equal the beauty and financial advantages of their own loved county on the eastern end of Lake Ontario. _HOW’S THIS?
