Houses of Selectman Thomes' and Harry Pepper, at Rowayton, En tered. Ten Dollars in Cash and an Overcoat Taken. The burglars who have been plying their trade in this town for several weeks, last night dropped down into Rowayton and succeeded in gaining an entrance to Selectman Thomes’ house, and also the residence of Harry Pepper. An entrance was effected at the Se lectman’s residence through a window. A visit was then made to Mr. Thomes’ sleeping room where $10 was removed from the pocket of his trousers which were laying on a chair. Mr. Thomes failed to awake and the burglars escaped with their booty. After leaving Selectman Thames, the burglar visited the residence of Harry Pepper, where they gained an entrance by breaking out a window light. After getting inside, they went up stairs, but upon opening a door, the burglar alarm, with which the house is equipped, went off, arousing Mr. Pep per who fired a shot at the fleeing mid night visitors. In their hasty departure they carried away an overcoat, which was all the booty they succeeded in ob taining.
