Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union, whose assets have grown to over $100 million, was saluted for offering 14 out of 21 potential e-services, according to Rory Rowland, founder of Top 1000U web site. “This achievement puts Ocean Communities in the highest echelon nationwide in its asset range, as ranked by the National Credit Union Administration,” said Rowland. Ocean Communities’ free online banking service, OceanLink, has been in operation since July 2002. It gives members secure, 24 hour access to account information and lets them review account balances, transfer funds between accounts, make a loan payment, see if a check has cleared, reorder checks, and much more. Members can even pay bills online using the CheckFree Web system. Security is paramount, according to Joseph J. Chapin, the credit union’s president and CEO. “We utilize advanced Internet technolo gies to make our Internet banking as secure as it is convenient. Customer data and transactions are protected at all times by a state-of-the art security system, which incorporates sophisticated firewalls, SSL securi ty, data encryption, and authentica tion by VeriSign. Almost 4,000 members enjoy the convenience of OceanLink online banking, said Marketing Manager Kimberly Jagger LaChance. In addition to its wide range of secure online services, Ocean Communities offers a variety of savings and investment options, mortgage and construction loans, and vehicle financing. Unlike many credit unions, membership is open to everyone who lives or works in York or Cumberland Counties, as well as relatives of members. Ocean Communities branches are located in Biddeford, Kennebunk, Sanford and Old Orchard Beach.
