State Police were kept busy over the weekend handling minor automobile accidents, checking into criminal mischief reports and completing the mounds of paperwork necessary for each report. A Mercer man was cited for reckless driving and driving without a license when he fell asleep at the wheel of his car and sideswiped 50 feet of guard rails Sunday at 8:55 a.m. William E. Finnimore, RD 1, was approaching I-80 at the time of the accident, police said. There was $800 damage to his 1974 coupe, but he was not in jured. Police also reported a rear end automobile collision on Rt. 19 Coolspring Two., Saturday at 10:10 p.m. Richard Lee Evans, 21, Mercer RD 4, ran his 1967 sedan into a ditch four miles from where he struck the 1969 truck driven by Raymond A. Wood, Stoneboro RD 1, according to police. Evans was bruised, but refused treatment. Charges are pending against Evans for driving while under the influence and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. There were no injuries but $1,500 damage to the two cars in a collision that occurred Saturday afternoon along US 61 in Jackson Center borough. Shirley L. Davis, Jackson Center RD 1, backed her 1970 coupe onto the highway and collided with the 1974 station wagon driven by William Allan Long, Mercer RD 4, police said. A pony had to be shot after he ran onto L.R. 43022 in Liberty Two. and was struck by a car. The pony, belonging to Jerome and Sandra Siskey, Grove City RD 3, ran in front of a 1975 sedan driven by Margaret A. Becker, Grove City RD 2, who could not avoid hitting it. G. Don McTaggart, Mercer RD 6, reported that a mercury vapor light in his yard had been shot out. The alleged incident occurred on March 6 or 7, but the damage was not discovered until Saturday when the light was being repaired. It cost $50 to replace the light.
