A STRANGE FUNERAL.Remarkable scene* attended the funeral of Mrs.Lavinia Farrar* of Plyrnouth*grove, Manchester* ablind old lady who was found in her house lastThursday stabbed to the heart. Other facts which have come to light tend to confirm the theory that the case was one of suicide. As evidence of her eccentric character a note has been discovered which was written by her in l£97,beforo she became totally blind. It runs as follows:M In ^ case of my death. My instructions to be carried out. The coffin to be about £9 oak* with Ivass mountings* two or three carriages and car* and brown horses. No hat bands or Mack trousers to be worn. The funeral to be as lively as possible. No blinds to be drawn. My death to be put in the paper the day after the funeral, to keep people awav from the house. All funeral expenses and tlie eatables not to be more than £30 or £35. A p™t-mortem examination to be made by Dr. Yeats* 16i. Ox ford* road, to take out the heart and replace it again. Mv age not to be put in the paper/’The publication of this document invested the funeral with a good deal of interest* and a crowd assembled near the house. The coffin was furnished in the ordinary manner, and the inscription plate contained nothing beyond the name, the date of death* and the a'ge. wliuSii was seventy-two. There were no wreaths. The horses attached to the hearse and two coaches wefe bays, and the followers were not in deep mourning. The chief mourners were a brotlier and a nephew. The blinds of the bouse ; were not drawn.
