Butler. 4212 Cedarwood lane, Janet A Schroeder, 3540 West 213th place, and Judy Woodruff, 6313 Beaver Dam roadMRS BUTLER was appointed village clerk in February, 1978. replacing Edward Herwald who resigned a few months after his election Two years ago, in the April election, Mrs Butler was elected by the voters to complete the unexpired term In seeking to be returned to her office, Mrs Butler, in her statement of Candida cy. said, I have worked, during my time in office, toward an open administration where the maximum potential of each staff member is developed through cross-training in various jobs “Utilizing contemporary business prac tices and procedures, 1 feel 1 have brought good order and efficiency to village government. Village business information is current and readily available to all.1 encourage the growth of each employee and believe in being accountable to the people of Matteson in the expendi ture of their tax dollars Most important,I have always tried to do the most for the majority of the people at the least cost Mrs Butler was an accountant-book keeper in Detroit where she lived with her family before moving to Matteson in 1970 Prior to being appointed village clerk, she was office manager at Mr Benny's restaurant in Matteson She has been active in civic and social affairs for Oakwood school in Matteson School District 162, St. Lawrence O’Toole churchand school and Governors State university-Her business experience spans manufacturing, food service and international charitable organi- .nns Mrs Butler is married to Joseph Butler, and they have fr*j children, two of whom are still at homeMRS SCHROEDER. a widow, is a home owner and has been a resident of Matteson for nine and one-half years. She was employed for 27 years as a field representative for the U S Department of Health and Human Services in Chicago In her statement of candidacy, Mrs. Schroeder said, “Service to the public was my dominant motivation during my career with the U.S. government. I want to apply my broad experience and expertise to provide better service to all resi dents of Matteson and to respond to their needs and priorities.I have three main goals: To provide improved services to residents in all units, including extended hours of service to meet the needs and convenience of working people “To provide an avenue of communication for all units, to identify the interests and opinions of each respective unit and to establish a method of assuring equal representation in the village board’s decision-making processTo effectively co-ordinate the policies and mandates of the village board and to communicate such policies and mandates to residents of all units. To maintain cohesiveness of all units to assure continued growth and viability “Mrs Schroeder said her work with the government provided knowledge and experience in independent management of position, interpretation of laws and regulations. program analysis and surveys, compilation of statistical data, investigations, adjudicating claims, public affairs, major media liaison, personnel counseling, public speaking and conducting seminars.She has served as an adviser to senior, youth and community action groups, was on the Central YWCA Community college faculty and is a member of the Business and Professional Women (Chicago Loop), Altrusa club of Chicago and Illinois Welfare associationMS. WOODRUFF, a second-generation Matteson resident, is a 1961 graduate of Rich East high school and a graduate of Northern Illinois university in DeKalb in 1965She has had six years classroom management experience and supervision of teachers of English at Streator Township high school, six months experience as a research lab assistant in Chicago Heights and has been employed eight and a half years by the village of Matteson in the office of the village clerk and the building department She is currently employed as administrative assistant to the building code administrator In her statement of candidacy, Ms Woodruff said:“My reason for seeking this office is to bring experience, professionalism and commitment to this important post I have eight and one-half years experience working as a municiple employee. I have experienced first-hand the day-to-day operation of the village and how important it is to have a knowledgeable experienced person playing a key role in that operation.“I believe that my education, past ex perience as a high school English teacher and my current role working with the public through the building department will enable me to transmit a needed professionalism in the clerk’s office “More importantly. I pledge my talents, time and ability to the welfare of all the residents of Matteson I take pride in Matteson as my home town I need to be a part of the orderly growth and brightfuture of our community. My personal commitment to excellence is what I promise in exchange for the confidence and support of the residents of Matteson.”Ms. Woodruff is an active charter member of the Matteson Historical society, chairman of the historical landmark committee for plaques, member of the Matteson history committee for the village’s 125th anniversary celebration, ac tive member of Faith United Church of Christ including past church school superintendent and president chairman of the Christian board of education, former member of the human relations commission and member of the Metro South Women’s Political caucusMRS. ROBINSON is unopposed in her bid for Richton Park village clerk. She has resided in Richton Park for the past 12 years Bom in Chicago and reared on the that city’s South side, she was graduated from Fenger high school and studied X-ray technology at St Bernard’s hospital, leaving that position to start her family. After attending Fenger junior college, she was employed as personnel manager for E.J Korvette, IncIn addition to serving on the zoning board of appeals commission for the past three years, Mrs Robinson is currently an active committee member for Cub Scout Pack 116 She has served on the health and welfare committee for Sauk school PTO as well as being a Girl Scout leader for Troop 131 for three years.Mrs. Robinson is presently employed as customer service manager for Zayre corporation in Richton Park. She resides at 4339 Arlington drive with her four children: Regina, 19; Deanne, 13; Joseph, 10, and laurel, 8Mrs Robinson states that when elected she will attempt to bring credit to the village and professionally fulfill the duties of her office in a nonpartisan way.Janet SchroederJudy WoodruffDorothy Robinson
