Edwina Jeter and Mra Harry Bleock. An other patrol has been added to the troop and there are two new mem bers in this patrol, Winifred Burke and Mary Frances Glisson. The scouts are also glad to have Marian Means ‘back with them. One of their most loyal girl scouts, Anna Sue Barrow, has grieved them by moving away to Daglas, Aziz,, and they all hope that she will make friends and prosper in the scouts there as well as she has here. The meeting consisted of a formal opening, patrols to corners. Then they sent and received the Morey code. Number 2 patrol gave the others 4 surprise. The refreshments were cookies and lemonade. Beu lah May Dickee made the cookies, and everyone said they were good. Then they sang songs and closed the meeting by singing taps. DOROTHY STROMAN, Reporter. Chapter I of the P_ EO Sister hood was entertained at the home of Mrs. E. C. Snow at a 1 o'clock luncheon, Friday. Following the delicious four course luncheon, a business meeting was held with the newly Installed officers officiating: Mrs. T. D. McIntosh, president; Mrs. J. L. Lanton, vice-president; Mrs. Hugh Gardner, recording secretary; Mrs. R. F. Mare, cor responding secretary, and Mrs. R. ©. Stockdale, chaplain. Other of ficers elected, but not present at the meeting, were Mrs. C. C Ley, guard, and Mrs. Covey Baker, treasurer. The president announced the fol lowing committees to serve with her this year: Yearbook—Mrs. J. L.Lanton, Mrs. G. L. Guthrie, Mrs. —, C. Snow and Mias Zelpha Bates. Social—Mrs. C. W. Botkin, Mrs. Covey Baker, Mrs. ©. C. Lee. Educational—Mrs. H. L. Kent, Mrs. Francis Burke, Music; Miss Ruth Morgan and Mrs. Hugh Gardner. In vice—Mrs. R. C. Stockdale and Mrs. R. F. Hare. Publicity—Mrs. Frank Heyner. The program for the afternoon congrated of a paper on Cottey Col lege by Mra. R. F. Hare. Cottey College, a junior college at Nevada, Mo., is sponsored by the Sister hood. Mrs. Hayner gave a sketch ca led The Minister of St. Bede's, Written by John Watson, Mrs. J. R. Sims of Mesilla enter tained a group of children Satur day celebrating the seventh birth day of her daughter, Emily Jean. The St. Patrick color theme and motif was used in decorating the birthday cake served with lemon ade at the close of the party, also in the table decorations and favors, his way used for floral decorations. Games and contests mused the little folks, Tulic Gamboa and Vir ginia Lowrey winning the prizes. Guests were Virginia, Verna Ruth, Velma and Dan Lowrey, Marion and Chandler Reynolds, Lorma, Nolan and Leslie Clayshulte, Bet ty Marcle and Fanny Harre, Bryant Henry, Freddie Bamert, Tulie and Rudy Gamboa, Helen Pappas, Nel lie Marlen, Consuela Griggs and Hmily Jean. The Dona Ana County Farm Bureau entertained the members of the membership teams at a ban quet in the Temple of Agriculture Thursday night. Jonquins decor ated the tables and an excellent menu was served. J. W. Edmund son, president of the county Farm Bureau, presided. The speakers of the evening were Dr. H.L. Kent and W. L. Riser of State College, who talked on the advantages of membership in farmers’ organiza tions, both local and national, for farmers of this valley. The bene fits derived by the farmers of Dona Ana county and the neresaity of organization. Pep talks were given by 4. E. Kubnicy of the Done Ana- Hill local, F. J. Rigney of La Mesa, T. A. Gardner of Canutillo, F. D. Bowman of the A. B.C. local and Mrs. F. J. Rigney, chairman of the home and community work com mittee. There were forty guests and much enthusiasm was aroused for the membership drive that started this week. Circle No. 1, St. Paul's Mission ary Society, held it a regular meet ing Monday afternoon in the church. Mra. A. W. Markley, chairman, presided. Following a business meeting, Mra. A. L. Means and Mrs. Walter Mogsman sang tivet, Mra. Josephine Gilliam led the devotionals and Mrs. PD. C. Caylor gave a short talk on two outstanding missionaries in Brazil, Present, other than those mention ed, were Mesdames Viola Brosci ius, F. H. Lynn, N. A. Gehl, R. C. Stockdale, C. W. Cupp, D. A. Jett, W. 3B. Palmer, G. L. Mareety and mother, W. J. Stevens, Mary Pree man and A. M. Wright. The execu tive board of the general society will meet this afternoon at Mrs. F. H. Lynn's home starting with a covered dish luncheon at one o'clock. Mrs. Edwin Bechem was club hostess to the members of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club. Peach blossoms and bridal wreath were combined for the floral dec orations. Mrs. C.T. Seale won the high score prize. Others present were Mesdames J. W. Lowe, M. B. Stevens, B. G. Dyne, EB. C. Snow, Anabel Lane Isaacks, G. L. Bright, Fred Hess, B.D.cIntosh, Dwight Allison, and ©. F. Knight and Miss Maxine Lane. Mrs. Ira Farney entertained the members of the Stitet aid Charter club Tuesday afternoon. A pleas ant afternoon was enjoyed by Mes dames A. F. Sheldon, C. E. Neff, Bob Banner, 3, W. Cox, F. H. Lynn, GN. Stroman, Wm. Mundy, J. c. Longbottom and Dan Bronson. Mrs. E. Wade was hostess to the members of the Presbyterian Auxiliary Thursday afternoon. Present were Mesdames E. D. Shipe, John Baker, Ferguson, Cat roon, Kelso, Swenglé Brown, Edna Lyoms, Stern, Wilkinson, Jesse Isaacks, Johnson, Dan Bronson, Lewis, and Miss Maxine Lane. Mrs. Lawrence Stablein of El Paso, daughter of Mrs. Wade, was a special puest. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Parker entertained at a fridge dinner, Saturday Ivesing, March 17. St. Patrick decorations were featured. Those present were: Messrs. and Mesdames Harry Blecock, A. J. MacNab, Jerry ifmes, P. ©. Neale, @. R. Hamiel, L. R. Lytton, A. R. Leding, Mr. L. B. Shires and Misa Veda Strong. President and Mrs. H.L. Kent were guests of the El Paso, cham ber of commerce at the Rio Grande Rectification dinner at Hotel Paso del Norte at 7 p. m. March 17. Josephus Daniels, United States ambassador to Mexico, was the honor guest and main speaker. M. M. Boring, personnel depart ment of the General Electric com pany, Interviewed seniors of the Engineering School Saturday after noon, concerning the possibility of future positions with that com pany. No jobs were promised, but Bor ing states that G. E. is planning on hiring men, and he is interviewing possible future employees at the organ, Mr. Hudson Marvell, Misa Vivian Hess, Mr. Forderhase, Prof. Jacoca, and others will have chart In the musical sections of the program. People will c heat liberty to come and go during the three hour service. Rev. Father Buch anan and his associates are plan ning to have services on Good Fri day at Saint Genevieve. In other words, all the ministers of the val ley are planning to give emphasis to the significance of Good Friday. The United States Public Heart Service is conducting an investi gation of malaria in Dona Anz and Sierra counties under the direction of Dr. C. W.
