Funeral services for Gerd Frerichs were held at one o'clock in the hame and at one-thirty in the Palmer Church Sunday afternoon, March 18th with the pastor, the Rev. L G. Hanneman in charge. Pallbearers were: Henry Wilmers, Hd. H. Johnson, Mike H. Johnson farm Jules, Emil F. Johnson, Martin Olson. Mr. Frerichs was buried in the Lutheran cemetery south of Palmer. Obituary Gerd William Frerichs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Onno William Frerichs, was born at Ardorf, East Frisia, Ger many, on March 12, 1869. He was baptized in the name of the Triune God on April 25, 1869, and after he had reached the confirmation age, he received catechetical instruction and was confirmed on March 18, 1883 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ardarf by Pastor Braikle. In the year 1804 he left the old country and came to the United States. He worked for two years in Woodford County, Illinois. Then in 1896 he came to Iowa and worked in the Lizard township for several years and then bought the farm 51 miles west of Palmer, where he has lived in the time of his death. In the year 1904 he was united in holy wedlock with Anna Schoon, which marriage was blessed with two sons and three daughters who are all living. His parents preceding him in death are buried in Germany and one brother Nes asleep in our cem etery at Palmer. On March 5th, while loading logs at the Fred Schon place, four miles south of Palmer, he had the misfor tune of a heavy log rolling over his legs through which he perhaps also received internal injuries. On March the 10th an ambulance brought him back to his home. At this time he had already developed a severe case of pneumonia which also hastened his departure from this life. On March 14th at 10 o'clock in the morning he was strengthened with the holy sacrement of the Savious and the comfort of God’s Word and thus was prepared when his Lord cal led him. He passed away peacefully without a struggle on March 15th, 10:30 p.m. at his home. He reached the age of 65 years, 3 days. He leaves to mourn, his wife, two sons, Onna, and Gerd; three daugh ters, Mrs. Geo. Juliff of Pomeroy, Bertha and Emma; one son-in-law, one grandchild, one brother and sister in Germany, and five brother-in-laws, and many other relatives and friends.
