Kent defended hit honors against a field of eight contenders, including one woman, some ot them considered the heat mashers In this country. Kent made the tweaty-rtve-mlle course in 2 hours and 86 minutes, s mark considerably lower than that he set last year, when he broke the world's record for the distance. William Kooch finished second in 2 hours and 46 minutes, and George Pilcher took third money in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
