There seems to be need of apparatus and room to permit efficient work all around. Wo feal sure, however, that this matter will come out all right In the end, and that we will have the privilege of placing your school on the list “ An inspector had visited the school some time before.At the home of Col. and Mrs. I). C. Smith Friday afternoon the History and Art club celebrated its seventeenth anniversary. A programme of literary and musical numbers was rendered by members of tho club, at the conclusion of which a collation was served. There were present Mesdanies E. C. Hyde, J, W. Fifer, C. P. Soper, James Wilcox, S. Waddle, Jonathan Cheney, Hudson Burr, Charles Capen, Dudley C. Smith. Misses Angie Milner, Jennie Ryhurn, Florence Fifer, Grace Cheney, Alice Harpole, Belle F. Chesher, Lillian Owen, Maggie Tem-pletou Miss Alice Harpole is president of the club,George W. McLean died at his home north of Normal at live o’clock yesterday morning. He was born in 1820 and has lived the greater part of his life near Normal. He leaves a wife and two sons, Bert, of Chicago, and George, at home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 j’clock tomorow by Rev. W. D. Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a member.
